I never liked Alex Ovechkin. Always thought he was overrated. And he still is. No one, I mean no one, except for me and a few others maybe, knows that most of his goals are power play ones and it's always easier to score that way than the huge amount of even strength goals Wayne Gretzky scored back in the day. Even if Gretzky's goal record is broken, Ovechkin will have that asterix next to his goal total. One thing is for sure, he will never approach the vast majority of Gretzky's goal records anyway. The hat tricks, career short-handed goals, etc. The Penguins and Sidney Crosby ran a clinic in shutting down the overrated Ovechkin and the Capitals back in the day.

He will be remembered for scoring, his great shot (especially one-timers), but he's one of the most prolific hitters of all time. He is the prototypical power forward. One of the best skaters, too, at least in his youth, but you've got to time those hits, too.

Someone needs to make a video dedicated to ovechkins offensive rushes. In his younger days the way he would just attack defenders was one of the intimidating things ive ever seen. I could only imagine what it was like for nhl d men to look up and see that barreling towards them. I even remember how some guys straight up said they were afraid of him.

The caps practice rink was right by my high school and I would catch ovi with a hood on sneaking out to avoid attention, which was hilarious because he was literally built like the hulk
